Because, a machine gun useful for a hoarde of enemies. However, accuracy is more important than just firing randomly. When using a gun you don't want the unfortunate soul to get back up.

I'll play along to a point, I kill ponies for a living though. Also, I have had to get rather close to ponies before to off them.
